Bill Shock

Unexpected charges on your bill are never welcome but they can be prevented by understanding what your tariff offers and importantly what services are chargeable. It’s important to check before you travel or change how your use your phone because costs can build up quickly.

International Calls

Some tariffs include free international calls but check what destinations are included and how many minutes are provided. Standard international calls from the UK to abroad can be expensive. Making an international call when you are outside of the UK will be chargeable and very expensive.

Roaming

Using your phone abroad will incur costs in most cases. Lots of popular destinations are covered by daily packages but always check before you travel (some allowances are restrictive). Data charged at standard global rates is expensive and should be avoided whenever possible.

Travelling

Mobile network connectivity provided on airplanes and boats is chargeable and expensive. These are third party networks with their own charging structure. Devices can connect and use these services without prior consent. We recommend data roaming is switched off when you travel.

UK Data Usage

Most networks offer some protection from exceeding your data allowance, but you can still attract charges as a result. Monitoring your data usage in your handset, watching out for alerts and being mindful of a change in circumstances (such as loss of WiFi connectivity) will help.
